Evaluation of LISC's Financial Opportunity Centers

Mobility recently completed a study to evaluate the effectiveness of LISC's Financial Opportunity Centers in Chicago, which seek to increase financial stability among low-income families by providing employment assistance, financial counseling and assistance accessing public benefits. The study employed a quasi-experimental longitudinal design that compared the outcomes of program participants to those of similar individuals who seek employment and training services through local workforce centers in Chicago. The study was funded through a Social Innovation Fund grant that LISC received from the Corporation for National and Community Service and by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
